Artist & Sculptor
Matthew Tyree is a visual artist and sculptor, married with four beautiful children. He currently lives in Buffalo, New York, but grew up in the small town of Island Park near the southern coast of Long Island. Before moving to Buffalo, he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Fire Department of New York. During his time there, he was one of those called to respond in Lower Manhattan after the attacks on September 11, 2001, and worked at Ground Zero for many months after. Many of his sculptures are inspired by those memories. During his time of service, he has also had the honor of working with many amazing people. While working in the communications department, he reconnected with his artistic talents, and began drawing caricatures of the men and women he worked with. Their interest and joy when seeing his work motivated him. Shortly after moving to Buffalo, he decided to return to college to find his direction in the art field and received a BFA in Sculpture this past spring.
